Wellnes Pro Success Tip: Michael Pollan's Presention Style
ByMy husband watches The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and every so often, he calls me to the TV when he thinks the guest is someone I'm interested in.
This week, Michael Pollan, award winning author, thought leader and natural food and environmental advocate was on the show to promote his new book "Food Rules."
As a wellness pro, you would be interested in this video because of the great information he shares about health and food. However, I invite you to view this 5 minute video, not from the information he shares (which is great!) but observe THE WAY that he presents his passion.
What makes Mr. Pollan approachable, likeable and easy to listen to (even if you disagree), and a major player in the healthy food movement, is that he presents what he evidently has a lot of passion for in a calm, easy-going manner.
Essentially, he doesn't sound like a zealot.
Lots of health and wellness pros, gurus and experts sound like religious zealots. It's my way or no way. And like all over zealous people, it can be a major turn off.
Hence the term "health nut." "Nut" because the common stereotype of the person passionate about health is that they come off kind of crazy. Go to any health food store and you can find a few.
However, if you want to get people's attention about health and wellness, you have to learn how to communicate in a way that people outside the wellness field understand.
Take some tips from Michael Pollan. Watch this video.
