Creating Connection is the New Marketing
The old way of marketing makes your potential client feel like something is being done TO them.
No one likes to be on the receiving end of this. It feels creepy and inauthentic.
The new way of marketing is about connecting with your potential client.
Connecting to what matters to them and seeing if there is a connection between what you offer and what they want.
When you're connecting, it feels good for both the person doing the marketing and the receiver.
Connecting requires you to be yourself, do things in your own style and be a bit transparent.
It's a win-win.
For example:
- what's out: pitching your services without discovering if the person is remotely interested or if it's even an appropriate match
- what's in: finding out what's important to someone and seeing if there's a fit
- what's out: signing people up to your email newsletter without asking permission
- what's in: asking for permission to send something of value to them
- what's out: only for the money
- what's in: becoming wealthy by serving others
- what's out: disguising your intentions when reconnecting with potential clients
- what's in: being authentic and telling the truth
- what's out: assuming you know your clients better than them
- what's in: discovering what's true for your potential clients
- what's out: seeing marketing as unnecessary
- what's in: seeing marketing as a transformational tool for sharing your passion with the world
It's a new world and it requires a new way of being.
Here's to creating connection with your audience.
To your success,
Karin
