Follow Up: Big Speaking Engagements

It’s one thing to hand out an ezine sign up sheet at small workshops or to personally get in touch with participants of your seminar (you can read how to do this here), but how do you follow up with hundreds of participants or when you’re a guest teacher on someone else’s tele-class?

Easy.

It just requires a little technology.

Set up a special page on your website (that’s easy to pronounce and spell) where you can offer a special gift to the participants of your talk.

It could be your notes from your presentation, a tip-sheet, free audio class or some other special gift you’ve already created and relates to your topic.

On this speical web page invite them to sign up for your free newsletter (tell them the benefits of doing so) and as a special thank you for attending your presentation and signing up for your ezine, they’ll receive you’re gift.

Once they enter their name and email they are immediately subscribed to your ezine and taken to another page on your website (or an email autoresponder) with your gift attached.

This allows you to add value to your presentation and also begin communicating with them on a regular basis through your ezine, essentially, starting a relationship with them.

Simple and effective and everyone wins.

How you present this offer is also simple.

At some point during your presentation (do not wait until the end, as by then, your audience will be bracing themselves for “the pitch”), when your audience is particularly engaged, pause and hold up a copy of your designated gift.

“Before I forget. Who would like a copy of my notes from this presentation (or describe your special gift in relation to the topic you’re giving)?” Most everyone will raise their hand.

“Okay great. Here’s how you get it. Just go to YOUR SPECIAL WEBPAGE NAME and it will be there as a special download gift. I’m leaving that gift up on my site until this Friday so please don’t wait.”

Then go back to your presentation.

Here's to creating meaningful connections in your presentations!

To your continued success,

Karin
